Darrell J. Sheppard

President & CEO

Darrell, an experienced and highly competent Chief Engineer and marine operations professional, brings more than 30 years' experience in the marine industry to his role as President and CEO. Before being named CEO in 2016, Darrell was Secunda's COO and was responsible for all the Company's Operations, including safety, vessel operation and maintenance, crewing and customer interface. He has also held other roles in the Company including Vessel Superintendent and Engineering Officer.

Darrell's extensive marine career includes hands-on experience working in the Atlantic Canada region as an engineering officer on various vessels including ice breakers, buoy tenders, search and rescue vessels, shuttle tankers and off-shore supply vessels. Prior to joining Secunda, Darrell worked with the Canadian Coast Guard.

As President and CEO, Darrell has ultimate responsibility for all Company affairs as well as to oversee and direct the effective and efficient operations of the Company. Darrell is a graduate of the Canadian Coast Guard College with a Bachelor of Technology Degree in Nautical Science.


Christopher T. Pitts

Vice President, Sales & Business Development

Chris Pitts is a marine transportation professional who started his career as a seafarer working on a variety of offshore support vessels. He holds a Chief Officer certificate of competency. In 2004, Chris joined the Shore Operations team after graduating with distinction from Lloyds Maritime Academy's North West Kent College with a Diploma in Ship Management. Since then, he has progressed into chartering and business development roles that have allowed him to provide organizational continuity through changes in company ownership.

Chris is recognized for his ability to develop and manage valued relationships and networks with key stakeholders in domestic and international markets. With more than a decade of experience in chartering and sales, Chris builds exceptional client relationships through his diligent attention to detail and execution of business strategies and plans.

Jennifer Binetti CPA, CA

Director of Finance & Administration

Jennifer initially joined Secunda in 2013 as Controller. Jennifer is an experienced Finance professional with over 15 years' experience, 10 of which have been in the mining and resources industry. Prior to joining Secunda, she held various financial reporting and management positions with Rio Tinto's Bauxite and Alumina division in Australia, most notably responsible for capitalization of a US $3 billion expansion to a mine and refinery in Australia's Northern Territory. Additionally, Jennifer has worked in public practice for Deloitte and KPMG and in the insurance industry with Johnson Inc. Jennifer is known for her high quality reporting with a strong focus on compliance and controls.

Jennifer is responsible for the accounting and compliance, IT and HR administration functions of the company and maintaining relationships with lenders, auditors, insurance providers and regulatory authorities relating to finance and HR. Jennifer is a graduate of Memorial University of Newfoundland with a Bachelor of Commerce (Co-Op) and a Chartered Accountant.

Capt. Sheldon Anstey

Director of Operations

Sheldon is an experienced Master Mariner with over 20 years' experience in the marine industry. Sheldon joined the Secunda team as a cadet in 1993 and progressed quickly through the ranks to become a Master on several of Secunda's vessels. In 2013 he joined the shore based Operations Department as a Vessel Superintendent as well as Newbuild Manager to oversee the construction of the Avalon Sea, the newest addition to Secunda's fleet.

In his role as Director, Operations, Sheldon is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a fleet of offshore supply and anchor handling vessels and directly oversees the daily operations of the fleet. A graduate of the Nautical Science Diploma Program, Sheldon has gone on to complete his Bachelor Maritime Studies and is presently completing his Masters Maritime Management with Memorial University of Newfoundland.

Ray Dalton

HSEQ Manager & CSO

Ray is an experienced Master Mariner and Safety Manager with over 30 years' experience in the marine and offshore industry. Ray started in the marine industry in 1985 and moved to the offshore industry in 1999 where he became Master of an FPSO. In 2008 he transferred from an Operations role to a HSEQ role and joined Secunda in 2017 as HSEQ Manager.

In his role as HSEQ Manager, Ray is responsible for overseeing all HSEQ activities onboard our vessels and in our office. He is also Company Security Officer and Designated person ashore as outlined in the ISM code. Ray has experience in risk management, emergency response, auditing, leading accident investigations and developing safety programs. A graduate of the Marine Institute, Nautical Science Diploma Program, Ray has also received a Certificate in Health, Safety and Environmental Processes from the University of Fredericton.

Captain Harry R. Pitcher

HSEQ/Operations Consultant

Captain Pitcher is a Master Mariner who has 40 years of hands on and managerial experience in marine areas such as offshore support vessels, dynamic positioning support vessels, cargo vessels and tugs & barges.

After many years as an Operations Manager and because there were regulatory, customer and company requirements to establish extensive Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality programs, Captain Pitcher was appointed and mandated to develop procedures and processes associated with those programs all in accordance with the ISO 9000 standard and the ISM Code (International Management Code for the Safe Operation of Ships and Pollution Prevention). Captain Pitcher developed and implemented Ship Security Plans in accordance with The ISPS Code (International Ship and Port Facility Security Code) and the Canadian Marine Transportation Security Regulations. Captain Pitcher is a certified auditor in the areas of Quality Management and Marine Safety Systems.
